This Bi-week's Intro
I'm pleased to say that my portfolio is officially completed! I have uploaded it to the appropriate websites in order to market myself accordingly as a freelance writer. I will certainly make this a full-time job as soon as possible, and it's looking better already.
In addition, I recently made more this month on KDP [so far] than I have since the month of my release, and I am honestly so thankful. It has been hard work trying to keep up with posting to social media and updating this blog, as well as trying to get myself off the ground as a freelancer, but it seems to be paying off. I'm so glad more readers have found my book, and it has been a comfort seeing more than a few cents each month. Hopefully this month is the universe's way of telling me that I'm doing something right and that I am headed in the right direction.
Book Recommendations
This week I would like to recommend the book that I have added as the image to this blog post: Havenwood by Katherine Belle. Katherine has been very sweet and kind, but even before getting to know her, I knew I wanted to read this book. She began posting updates about this book months ago on her Tiktok account, and I have recently found her on Instagram as well, and when I first saw her introduction of this book, I knew I was going to read it. I just completed the book a couple days ago, and it was wonderful. Very sweet, very cute, witchy culture, and autumn vibes.
If you need a book to get you ready for the Halloween season before it's upon us, this is the book to read. It's also a great palate cleanser for in between dark romance reads.
My Current Read
After completing Havenwood earlier this week, I have not yet added to my collection of current reads, still working on a few that I have been working on for a few weeks now--in fact, a couple of them I began reading in April and still have yet to finish.
If you can't tell by now, I have an issue DNF'ing books, but those books that I should have DNF'ed take me far longer to read than anything else. A good book will normally take me less than 10 days to read, and an excellent read will take me a few days at most to finish. I'm sure I'll get to completing the books I've been working on soon though. I am almost finished with two of the at the moment.
Recent Finds Unrelated to Reading
I completed my Medium profile and my LinkedIn profile this week. I feel like I'm almost a real professional! Medium has become more than I expected, and I'm going to be using it as part of my portfolio samples for writing. It has wonderful features, and it's a perfect social media site for readers and writers who wish to write whatever they want. There are writers on there who write everything from historical pieces to fiction to informative modern articles for daily life to simply thoughts, as I've noticed some users use this site as a way to keep a journal of their thoughts. I don't like to use the term "game-changer," but this social media site seems to have changed my routine for the better so far.
Recent TV Shows & Movies
I just saw the movie Twisters in theaters yesterday, which is one of the reasons that my blog post is one day late this week (I was too busy yesterday, unfortunately, to update). However, the movie was great. As a major--and I mean, major--fan of Twister from 1996, I knew I was going to see this movie, but up until about a week before the release date, I was very skeptical to see it. Bill Paxton is no longer with us, and because of that, I knew that Helen Hunt would not want to make an appearance in the standalone sequel without Bill. It was a great movie though, and I would watch it again, just not immediately, though I'm sure I'll buy it when a physical copy is available.
Bonus: James Paxton, Bill Paxton's son, makes an appearance in the movie.
