Down to Weekly
Well, it’s finally happened. My schedule has worked out well enough to the point that I am able to write this blog once per week now! Honestly, I didn’t think I’d be able to do it this quickly. I’m still working on cutting down my social media time. Wednesdays are my content creation days, so certainly I’m on social media longer on those days, but the rest of the time I’ve been trying to cut down. My average is about two hours per day, and I could attribute most of that time to editing and uploading videos throughout the week, but I know that some of it is simply my scrolling time. I was mindful of it last week and was very successful—I think… My average per day was still about two hours, and that seems to be what it stays steady at. This week, I’d like to focus on being more mindful about it, maybe try to cut my time down a little and focus only on editing and uploading time, only scrolling during my 9 to 5.
This week, I had to cancel my kindle subscription. I know, I know, I truly did not want to, but with my financial situation the way that it is, something had to go, and I chose to sacrifice three subscriptions, one of them being Kindle Unlimited, though I am only going to “pause” the subscription, and I’ve decided that I will subscribe to it every other month. I think it will be good for me, not only to separate myself from screen time on my phone for somewhat longer, but also, it will allow me to focus on reading the physical books that are on my TBR.
When I initially looked at my bookshelf, I thought that I only had three books that I hadn’t read. But going through it a little more thoroughly, I realize those are only the spicy romance books. I actually have closer to fifteen books on my shelf that I have yet to read. I figure pausing my Kindle Unlimited subscription every other month will allow me to focus on finishing my physical TBR.
Book Recommendations
Well, I haven’t finished a book yet this week; I actually ended up DNF’ing a book this week, finally calling it quits after noticing that I’ve been trying to get through this book since May. Finally, just done with that one. I can’t even add it to my reading goal for the year, and I don’t typically give up on books when I’m almost halfway to finish line.
Now, because of my new schedule, I don’t have set aside reading time, so I only get reading done while at my 9 to 5 during the week. I don’t have anything particularly new to recommend, but I will recommend a book that I have previously read: Ours for Halloween by Violet Taylor, the image for this week’s blog post.
If you haven’t read anything from Violet Taylor, she’s a monster smut queen. The story is there, definitely, and sometimes it’s rather touching, but it is mostly monster or demon smut. Ours for Halloween is sure to get you ready for the Halloween season. The smut is some of my favorite that I’ve read, and the story is very cute. Another good one that’s quite short is Scream for the Scarecrow by the same author. Short, smutty, and the poem at the end had my heart clenching.
My Current Read
I’m still reading the same book Alien Prince’s Mate by Tammy Walsh. Since I’ve cut down my reading time for my new schedule, I haven’t had the chance to finish it yet. I’m not sure exactly what I’ll read after this one, but I’m divided between two books right now. One is from a fellow indie author who I’ve been wanting to read from for a while now and the other is seasonal. At this moment, it depends on if Kindle Unlimited ends before I can finish the seasonal/Halloween one, because the other from my fellow indie author is not available on Kindle Unlimited, so I have to purchase the ebook, regardless, it will be accessible for me easily. I’ll let you know what the two books are next week. I should be finished with Alien Prince’s Mate by then.
Recent Finds Unrelated to Reading
This isn’t exactly a find, but it is unrelated to reading: I finally hit one thousand followers on Tiktok! It took a lot of work on my end, but I’m rather excited about it! My next goal is obviously to continue to grow there, but I’m also working on reaching one hundred followers on Instagram.
Recent TV Shows & Movies
One of the subscriptions that I canceled, which I will most likely not be returning to, is Max. I really enjoy watching Joe Kenda and Nightmare Next Door, but the price is one of the most expensive subscriptions that I was paying for. I’m working on building up a savings, and even though twenty dollars might not sound like much, every month tends to build up more and more. That included with the fact that I really only watch Investigation Discovery shows, I can find those elsewhere for little to no price.
Additionally, I don’t have anything else that I’ve been watching this week.
