It's been a hell of a month

The Accident

Well, I feel like I've almost fully recovered from my concussion. I didn't explain much in my last blog, simply that at the beginning of the month I had an emergency, but what happened was I got a concussion. I won't explain the situation, but it was bad, and I'm only just now starting to feel like myself again. This past week has been very beneficial in terms of my mental health, and it's great to not feel so lost and alone again. I've been pretty open about my mental health on social media, and the fact that I'm on anti-depressants for a chemical imbalance, but my meds felt like they were doing almost nothing while I was recovering from my concussion.

This is the first time I’ve started to feel like myself since the accident a few weeks ago. I was almost done reading If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin, but after the accident, I couldn’t find the will to want to read anything at all. However, last week, I read the newly released book from Violet Taylor, Stitches, which almost immediately made me want to read my favorite book from her, Ours for Halloween—I literally read it the next day. And a couple days later, I decided to read Shot in Focus by Taylor Delvaux, which is short, sweet, and spicy.

Last Friday, I also started writing again. I don’t know what got into me, but when I pulled out my laptop to start budgeting, I finished that and decided to take a look at my upcoming unfinished books. I didn’t focus on Love or anything from The Barrenmire Lights collection. I actually focused on my sixth book release and found myself sitting for hours just hashing out almost everything for this book—when I say ‘everything’ I specifically mean the characters and character developments and some of the scenes I’m going to try to incorporate. I haven’t done much with the plot specifically, but I’m finally starting to feel like myself again.

Unfortunately, one of the reasons I had not been wanting to write Love was because I was finding myself not liking some of the chapters. Again. I didn’t have to remove ten chapters like I did six months ago. This time around, I only removed two, and I merged another two chapters together.

And today… I finished ♥

I’m officially stepping away from my next book for two weeks, so that I can take a look at it again with fresh eyes for the next revisions. I am also not going to write anything for any of my novels for one week, so that I can reset and refocus on each of them with fresh eyes. After that, hopefully I can be done with my final draft before November, and then I get beta readers. It’s a process, but it’s a process that’s definitely worth it.

Also, I am well-aware that it is Tuesday, and I will be getting back on track starting on Sunday with regular late-Sunday/early-Monday blog posts.

Reading Recommendations

Each book that I mentioned above. Stitches and Ours for Halloween by Violet Taylor, and Shot in Focus by Taylor Delvaux.

My Current Read

Savage Hearts by Eva Ashwood. I started rereading the series again earlier this year, and I just have yet to finish it again. A lot of it has to do with life in general around the time that I was reading it and most recently the accident. But it’s the fourth book in an excellent series, my favorite dark romance series for sure.

My plan for this week (now that I’m done writing for the moment) is to finish If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin. I haven’t finished that one yet, and that is only due to the accident. Now that I’m feeling better, it’s time to take it off the list.

Recent TV Shows & Movies

So many shows have come back these past couple weeks, I don’t even know if I can list them all off. A couple of these shows are not new, but they are ones that I recently purchased or have watched again. I’ll tell you what I’m watching and give a category with it.
